Apple has published financial results for the fourth quarter of its financial year, with quarterly revenue up 27% year-on-year to $36.0 billion (£22.4 billion) and quarterly net profit up 24% to $8.2 billion.
Sales of iPhones were up 58% on the same period in 2011 to 26.9 million handsets, while iPad sales of 14 million were up 26%.

Microsoft’s new computer operating system, Windows 8, goes on sale today.
The company says its new OS will be available on more than a thousand PC and tablet models, including the company’s own Microsoft Surface tablet devices.

Facebook has published its financial results for the third quarter of 2012, reporting a 32% increase in revenue to $1.262 billion (£782 million) but a quarterly loss of $59 million.
Revenue from advertising was $1.09 billion, a 36% increase from the same quarter last year.

LG Electronics has reported results for the third quarter of 2012, noting that better-than-expected performance from its mobile and home appliance businesses helped offset a slight drop in year-on-year sales figures.
Net profit for the quarter was 157 billion South Korean Won (£88.75 million); a significant improvement from last year’s loss.

EE (formerly Everything Everywhere) has published its third quarter financial results for 2012.
Service revenue was down 3% year-on-year to £1.496 billion, although the company says this would have been a 3.1% increase without the effect of changes to mobile termination rate and roaming regulations.
