O2 More now has six million ad-friendly customers

O2 More, the personalised mobile marketing service operated by O2 Media, now has six million customers.

It’s reached the figure just six months after passing the two million mark. The company also notes that 93% of people open its messages within five minutes of receiving them.

Complaints upheld against Phones 4U 'Winking Jesus' ad

The Advertising Standards Authority has upheld complaints made about a Phones 4U press advertisement.

Jesus Christ was depicted in the ad, pointing a finger with one hand and displaying a thumbs-up sign with the other. A headline referred to ‘Miraculous deals’.

Telefonica plans new Digital business unit for London

Telefónica has announced three significant changes to its organisational structure.

It’s setting up a new business unit called Telefónica Digital. Matthew Key, who joined O2 in 2002 and had previously been in charge of Telefónica Europe, will run the unit. It’ll be based in London with offices in Madrid, Sao Paulo, Silicon Valley and a number of locations in Asia. Around 2,500 staff will be drawn from Telefonica and its associated businesses.

New CEO for Blyk

Mobile media company Blyk says Chief Commercial Officer Eric Kip has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer.

Blyk co-founder Pekka Ala-Pietilä, who’s stepping down after five years of running the business, will continue as the company’s chairman.
