3G Android laptop and dual-screen Windows tablet coming from Toshiba

Toshiba is celebrating 25 years of laptop production by announcing some innovative new products that'll arrive later this year. The forthcoming Toshiba AC100 has an ultra-slim laptop form with a 10-inch screen but runs the Android operating system. It promises up to 8 hours battery life (or a week on 'standby'). A WiFi-only version is due in August, with a a 3G-equipped model expected to follow.

O2 and Apple are the most-recommended UK mobile brands in new survey

Customer experience company Satmetrix has released its 2010 European Net Promoter Industry Benchmarks for the banking, car insurance, ISP, mobile phone carrier, mobile phone handset, computer hardware and television/DVD industries across the UK, France and Germany.

In the UK, O2 was the leading mobile phone network with a 'Net Promoter Score' that was 21 percentage points above average.

The Apple iPhone won best customer experience on a mobile phone handset with a score that was 80 points ahead of last place and 49 points ahead of the industry average.

Sonim launches rugged phone with lone worker protection

Rugged phone manufacturer Sonim Technologies has launched a special version of its XP3 handset that can be combined with a new 'lone worker' safety solution.

The Sonim XP3 Sentinel offers the company's usual ultra-touch specifications: it can be dropped from 2 metres onto concrete, will survive in a metre of water for up to 30 minutes and can operate in temperatures from -20 to +55 Celsius.
