Online marketplace eBay, which already owns PayPal, has now agreed to acquire California-based mobile payment service Zong for around $240 million.
Zong offers 'direct carrier billing', enabling consumers to pay for purchases using their mobile phone number. The appropriate payment amount is then added to the customer's mobile account.

Pizza Express has introduced a new iPhone application that lets customers book a table and then pay their restaurant bill using PayPal or a credit/debit card. It's thought to be the first time a major retailer has used PayPal online payments in physical UK high street shops.
The company is also rolling out free WiFi via The Cloud in all of its 370 restaurants.
