Bluetooth Smart technology shows popularity surge in 2013

According to the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, the number of new devices equipped for its low-power ‘Bluetooth Smart’ technology has reached record levels.

The number of product listings for Bluetooth Smart Ready devices and Bluetooth Smart accessories has grown by more than 186% year-on-year to the first half of 2013.

Cars are expected to have 4.3 billion installed apps by the end of 2018

ABI Research expects a dramatic increase in the number of automotive apps downloaded in cars during the next five years.

It forecasts a jump from around 12 million at the end of last year to 4.3 billion at the end of 2018, with revenue of $1.67 billion (£1.08 billion) being generated worldwide.

The wristwatch phone isn't a new idea… but is it the right time for the Apple iWatch?

Apple is rumoured to be planning a wearable mobile device: the iWatch. Whether it’s an iPhone accessory or a stand-alone mobile phone… or a figment of overactive imaginations… remains to be seen, although press reports suggest it could be launched by the end of 2013.
