The 5-TILES touchscreen keyboard has been released as a beta version by ETAOI Systems today.
As the name suggests, it uses just five keyboard tiles to type the alphabet rather than 26. This makes it particularly well-suited to devices with small screens, such as smart watches, as well as conventional smartphones.
Cambridge-based Neul, which specialises in producing hardware to support the ‘Internet of Things’, is reported to have been acquired by Huawei.
The deal is said to be worth £15 million.

Dixons Carphone, EE and Vodafone have all offered roles to a number of staff affected by the closure of Phones 4u stores.
Over 5,500 staff worked for the retailer when it went into administration last week.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has published an online letter that emphasises the company’s focus on privacy and data protection.
It follows an incident a couple of weeks ago when a number of high-profile Apple iCloud accounts were hacked.
