iPhone 4S dismantled and photographed

Mark Bridge writes:

The Apple iPhone 4S launches in the UK today - but the self-repair chaps at iFixit.com have already acquired one and have disassembled it. Everything seems to be very much as expected, despite suggestions that Siri might provide distractions along the lines of “Number five is alive - no disassemble me!”

Quanta Computer signs patent agreement with Microsoft for Android devices

Microsoft and Quanta Computer have signed a patent agreement to cover Quanta under Microsoft’s patent portfolio for producing tablets, smartphones and other devices running the Android and Chrome platforms.

Quanta joins the ranks of Samsung, HTC, ViewSonic, Acer and several other manufacturers that produce Android-based equipment.

New London poster sites include NFC connections

Outdoor advertising company Clear Channel is launching a new type of digital poster site called LD6 (London Digital 6 Sheet).

Starting from 28th November, a hundred 72-inch HD screens will be installed at bus shelters across London. Companies will be able to develop custom content that’s tailored to each location, with the option of adding real-time updates such as news, weather, travel and social media information.

Two in five tablet and smartphone owners use them every day when watching TV

A new study from the United States shows that multitasking with mobile devices is a popular activity when watching television.

Around 40% of tablet and smartphone owners in the USA used their devices daily while watching TV, according to a study from Nielsen. This contrasts with the 14% of eBook reader owners who watched TV while using their device every day.
