Samsung releases software development kit for bada 2.0

Samsung Electronics has announced the availability of its bada 2.0 Software Development Kit, enabling developers to create apps for the latest version of application Samsung's mobile platform.

bada 2.0 was first revealed at Mobile World Congress in February, with features that include multi-tasking, HTML5 support, Near Field Communication and voice recognition. In-app Ads are also possible with bada 2.0.

BBM Music connects music with messaging on BlackBerry devices

Research In Motion has announced a new service called BBM Music.

It's a cloud-based service that lets users share their favourite songs with friends via BlackBerry Messenger. The music library already contains millions of songs from leading music companies, including Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and EMI.

Sony Ericsson introducing 3D photo panoramas to Xperia smartphones

Sony Ericsson will add new functionality and features to its 2011 Xperia smartphone range with a software upgrade from October 2011.

The company says customers with one of this year's Android-powered Xperia smartphones will receive enhanced camera features including '3D sweep panorama technology', enabling 3D images to be captured and then viewed on a 3D TV by using the phone’s HDMI output.

Samsung chooses Red Bend for over-the-air mobile updates

Samsung Electronics has licensed Red Bend's suite of Mobile Software Management solutions for software management, device management and firmware over-the-air updating (FOTA).

It joins 80 device manufacturers, mobile operators, semiconductor vendors and automotive companies that have included Red Bend software in more than 1 billion mobile phones and connected devices.

Steve Jobs resigns as Apple CEO

Apple CEO Steve Jobs has resigned from his role.

Apple's board has appointed Tim Cook, previously the company's Chief Operating Officer, as the new CEO. Mr Jobs has now been elected Chairman of the Board; a position he requested.
