Huawei says it’s successfully run the world’s first GSM-LTE Dynamic Spectrum Sharing trial with Vodafone Spain.
It’s a technology that allows real-time changes to be made to the allocation of frequencies for 3G GSM and 4G LTE traffic.

South Korean mobile phone network SK Telecom has announced the launch of 225Mbps LTE-Advanced, the first time this combination of speed and technology has been made available commercially.
It’s three times faster than conventional 4G LTE and fifteen times faster than 3G, which means consumers could download a 1GB movie just in 37 seconds.

Information from the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) shows that 4G LTE technology has reached a new milestone. In total, there are now 300 commercial LTE networks available in 107 countries worldwide, with 35 networks already launched this year.
Last year, 4G LTE service was available in just 76 countries.

At the end of last year there were over 230 million LTE-related mobile subscriptions worldwide, according to ABI Research. That’s 3.3% of all mobile subscribers.
This figure is expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate of 36.6% between 2014 and 2019, resulting in more than 2 billion 4G subscriptions by the end of the forecast period.
