RIM acquires Tungle to enhance BlackBerry calendar

Canadian cloud-based calendar service Tungle has been acquired by Research In Motion.

The entire team will be joining RIM to work on the BlackBerry platform.

Apple explains its iPhone location data policy

Following recent concerns about the use of location-based information on the iPhone - a topic we covered in today's podcast - Apple has published a set of questions and answers about its use of location data.

The company insists it is "not tracking the location of your iPhone" and has never done this.

LG says "profit recovery on track" in quarterly results

LG Electronics has announced financial results for the three-month period ending 31st March 2011.

In a statement, the company said "stronger operating profits reflected successful cost-reduction efforts and steady performance in all four business units". It expects to see more growth thanks to its LG Optimus smartphones and its 3D televisions.

New Nokia strategy will see 4000 staff leaving and Symbian staff transferred

Nokia has announced plans to "align its global workforce" in order to deliver on its new strategy, which involves a partnership with Microsoft.

Around 4,000 employees are expected to leave the company by the end of next year, with the majority of reductions in Denmark, Finland and the UK. In addition, about 3,000 employees involved with Symbian will be transferred to Accenture.
