Nokia announces two new devices and a Symbian update

Nokia has announced an update to the Symbian operating system, along with two new smartphone devices.

The new OS upgrade has a name rather than a number. It's called Symbian Anna and promises new icons, improved usability, a faster browser, better maps and an assortment of other tweaks.

Google acquires music sync service PushLife

Google has acquired PushLife, a three-year-old Canadian company that enables non-Apple mobile devices to synchronise with the iTunes music service.

It also offers syncing with mobile operators' music services; a PushLife app was launched in the UK last year via Virgin Mobile.

Half of all tablet device sales will be Apple iPads for the next three years

A new report from Gartner says the Apple iOS will dominate table device sales until 2015 - and will account for more than half of annual tablet sales for the next three years.

69% of tablets sold this year are expected to have the Apple iOS, dropping to 47% in 2015.
