Good Technology adds secure mobile browsing to its enterprise portfolio

Multiplatform mobility company Good Technology has enhanced its Good for Enterprise product to include a secure web browser. It means that mobile users can now access intranets and other web-enabled enterprise applications  without worrying about the security of the information they're sending and receiving.

Good for Enterprise already offers secure email access across a range of mobile operating systems, along with 'remote control' of device functionality by IT administrators.

New BlackBerry PlayBook will be able to run Android applications

Research In Motion says its new BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, which launches in the US and Canada next month (and is expected in the UK this summer), will also be able to run Android applications and BlackBerry Java apps.

Two optional 'app players' will be offered by RIM in a few months, enabling users to download and run BlackBerry Java apps and Android v2.3 apps from BlackBerry App World.

Windows Phone 'copy and paste' update starts to hit the UK

Microsoft says its 'copy and paste' update for Windows Phone 7 - the first big software update for the platform - was released on Tuesday. The first phones to be updated will be those that aren’t customised for a specific mobile network operator.

New research database available for mobile marketers

Mobile consumer research group mobileSQUARED has launched a new database that provides detailed historic data and forecasts for UK and US mobile phone usage. The Mobile Consumer Trends database covers the mobile internet, mobile apps, mobile commerce, opt-in messaging and mobile advertising, with forecasts searchable by device type, gender, age, geography and socio-economics.

MCT's information starts from the fourth quarter of 2009 and is updated every quarter with figures from Lightspeed Research.

Fon and mopay promise simpler mobile access to WiFi connections

Mobile payment solution provider mopay has announced a global partnership with Fon, which describes itself as the world's largest WiFi network.

Fon is enabling mopay mobile payments, making it easier for smartphone and tablet users to pay for access to a Fon hotspot. Customers will be able to get WiFi access simply by providing their mobile phone number and adding the Fon cost to their mobile account.
