Major UK retailers announce their support for Zapp mobile payments

Mobile payment service Zapp has announced partnerships with a number of UK retailers ahead of an anticipated launch next year.

Asda, Sainsbury’s, House of Fraser and Shop Direct have all said they aim to allow the smartphone-based Zapp payment process from 2015.

Three UK is fined £250,000 by Ofcom for poor complaint handling

Ofcom has fined Three UK £250,000 for failing to comply with its rules on handling customer complaints.

The communications regulator found Three had closed some complaints without ensuring they were fully resolved and had failed to log other customer calls as complaints. As a result, Three hadn’t made these customers aware of their right to independent dispute resolution.

HTC reveals new point-and-shoot 16 megapixel camera plus a smartphone for 13 megapixel 'selfies'

HTC has announced a small point-and-shoot waterproof camera that’s been described as a rival to the GoPro range.

The new RE has an unconventional cylindrical design without a viewfinder, although it can be controlled via an Android or iOS application that will also back up its photos. Live video stream is due to be added to the app in the future.

EE moves into TV with its new mobile-focussed home television service

UK telecoms operator EE has launched a new home TV service that lets customers use smartphones and tablets as remote controls for their home television.

EE TV, which will be available later this autumn, is based on a ‘smart box’ that plugs into a TV set via an HDMI socket. It’s equipped with a 1TB hard drive for recording, along with 4 Freeview tuners and WiFi connectivity.
