Amazon has confirmed that its recently-announced Kindle HDX tablets will be coming to the UK next month.
The 7-inch Kindle Fire HDX will cost from £199 while the 8.9-inch version will cost from £329. Both run Amazon’s custom version of Android on a quad-core 2.2GHz processor. Pricing for the lower-spec Kindle Fire HD is from £119.
An exclusive partnership with Vodafone will see the 4G LTE versions of the HDX tablets - priced from £269 - launched in the UK with a pre-installed SIM card. This enables customers to sign up to a three-month Vodafone Internet Starter Pack that includes 5GB of data as well as 20GB of Amazon cloud storage and money-off vouchers for a £25 one-off fee.
Patrick Chomet, Vodafone Group Director of Terminals, said “Vodafone has worked with Amazon over the years to provide Vodafone customers with an easy and reliable means of getting the content they want, whenever and wherever they want it. Vodafone and Amazon are offering a great package for those who want to get the most out of their new Kindle Fire HDX 4G LTE while on the move.”
Vodafone is already Amazon’s chosen UK mobile provider for its 3G Kindle eBook readers.
