BT’s curly cord is 50 years old

GPO advertisement: A coloured telephone for your personal room...With mobile-only homes now accounting for over a quarter of households in some UK cities, BT is reminding us that the curly telephone cord first appeared in the UK fifty years ago. It appeared with the iconic 700-type telephone, which was offered in a range of colours, and replaced the previous nylon-covered plaited cord. Happy Birthday, Curly. [Press release]
