This week Flexion announced that its services are now enabling more than one free trial per second in app stores.
The company has created a ‘wrapper’ of code that lets application developers offer a simple one-click purchase option following a free trial. Flexion-wrapped games are already available in app stores operated by Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson. For example, Nokia customers can download Java games from EA and play them free before deciding whether to buy. Purchases are made via operator billing, with the cost added to the customer’s mobile account.
Jens Lauritzson, CEO of Flexion, said “Instead of making developers add billing SDKs to their game code, we let them wrap their products with the Flexion wrapper which automatically enables in-app billing for products. These can then be distributed via app stores as free downloads. We have done this successfully for some of the biggest publishers and our plan now is to make these services available to the whole developer community. We are aiming for a growth rate of 100 million new consumers per month within the next 24 months.”
Flexion’s wrapper technology uses a small amount of code that can be ‘wrapped’ around any J2ME, Blackberry or Android application. The company was previously known as Accumulate UK until earlier this year.
