Heathrow Express launches its own mobile ticket app

Heathrow Express, the BAA rail service that connects central London and Heathrow Airport, has launched a free BlackBerry and Android application that allows users to buy tickets and receive the ticket direct to their mobile phone. In addition, the app offers live service updates.

Payment can be made by all major credit and debit cards, except Maestro. Pricing is the same as the company’s standard online fares schedule.

The app has been accredited by Barclays and is PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliant.

Richard Robinson, Heathrow Express managing director, said “The launch of our new app is the next phase in enhancing our seamless travel proposition for our customers. Being able to buy your ticket on your phone from anywhere in the world will greatly assist our customers and once again demonstrates that Heathrow Express invests in meaningful and practical innovation to support our passengers. With Blackberry dominating the business market, it made sense to introduce an app that most of our customers can use. Our development schedule allowed us to complete apps for Blackberry and Android users first, with an iPhone version following soon in the New Year.”
