In August last year LG Electronics announced it had sold more than five million 4G LTE smartphones worldwide - and just over six months later it’s doubled that figure.
The company says it’s now sold more than 10 million LTE smartphones, having started selling its devices in 2011. More recently, the quad-core LG Optimus G has been launched in 50 countries.
Dr Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of the LG Mobile Communications Company, said “Aggressive pushing forward with 4G LTE technology allows LG satisfy the needs of consumers and is a huge factor in our growing success in global LTE smartphone sales. Having established ourselves as a major industry player, we will continue to expand our footprint in the global LTE market with a wider range of differentiated, high quality LTE smartphones.”
LG says it’s aiming to double its LTE smartphone penetration this year.
