LG Electronics has announced an exclusive collection of music and ringtones written by Ennio Morricone, who composed music for films including The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, The Mission, The Untouchables and Cinema Paradiso.
The music – a collection of 15 new tunes and 10 of Morricone’s cinema compositions - will be preloaded on LG smartphones, starting with the new LG Optimus 2X.
LG also plans to develop a range of free apps with Morricone-related content for the LG Application Store next year.
Dr Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said “Signore Morricone is one of the best-loved soundtrack composers of all time. Reproducing his work with such amazing clarity on the Optimus 2X, gives smartphones a whole new level of respect as the primary device for on-the-go music.”
Rival handset manufacturer Nokia has also worked with well-known composers in the past; versions of the Nokia 8800 had ringtones by Ryuichi Sakamoto and Brian Eno.
