O2 launches 'TU Go' VoIP app in the UK

Customers can make 'mobile' calls from any compatible internet-connected device

O2 UK has launched a new application that enables customers to link their O2 mobile number to any compatible device for calls, text messages and voicemail. It’s called TU Go and follows Telefonica’s launch of the TU brand last year.

At the moment TU Go is available on iOS and Android mobile devices as well as Windows 7 PCs. Calls can be made and received from any internet-connected device with the TU Go app; calls are charged in line with a customer’s chosen tariff. The recipient doesn’t need to install the app.

Each customer can run TU Go on up to five devices simultaneously and can use it over a 3G mobile connection or via WiFi. Incoming calls will alert the customer on all connected devices.

Currently TU Go is just available to ‘pay monthly’ customers in the UK, although Telefonica is already planning to launch it for other tariffs and countries.
