Ofcom publishes 3G coverage maps for the UK

Telecoms regulator Ofcom has published maps showing 3G mobile phone coverage across the UK – but it also admits that the operators’ own maps are likely to be more accurate. The maps are based on data that Ofcom collected at the end of 2008 to make sure the ‘big five’ UK networks were meeting their 3G licence rollout obligations. Ofcom says “the availability or quality of mobile services cannot be assumed from these maps”… but they certainly show some dramatic differences between 3G coverage for different networks.
