French communications giant Orange has teamed up with marketing and media specialist Havas Media to create a new Los Angeles-based research and business development centre called SiliWood. It’ll look at opportunities and innovation with a particular focus on media, content, technology and data science.
The portmanteau word ‘SiliWood’ was created in the 1990s to describe convergence between the technology of Silicon Valley and the entertainment of Hollywood.
Élie Girard, Group Executive Vice President for Strategy and Development at Orange, said “Orange has expertise in converging digital content at the network and device level. By joining with Havas in the heart of the entertainment ecosystem we hope to take a deeper look at the business and talent issues around digital storytelling.”
