Orange UK launches own-brand prepay Android phone for £99

Orange has launched the first in a series of Orange-branded Android devices for the UK. It's called the 'San Francisco' and will cost £99 on a 'pay as you go' tariff. Alternatively, the handset is available on 'pay monthly' contracts.

The San Francisco – which has a very similar spec to the ZTE Blade – is loaded with Android 'Eclair' v2.1 and is equipped with a 3.2-megapixel camera, WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth. Orange is supplying the smartphone with a 2GB microSD card. San Francisco is the latest city-themed device from Orange; other current Orange UK handsets include Miami, Lisbon, Rio and Amsterdam. In addition, the Orange Boston is an Android-powered device that's available in mainland Europe.
