Sage Pay and MoBank partnership makes mobile commerce easier

Independent payment service provider Sage Pay Europe has announced a partnership with mCommerce provider The MoBank Group that’ll let Sage Pay’s merchants offer mobile payments. The new service will use MoPowered, Mobank’s secure Software-as-a-Service mCommerce solution.

Dominic Keen, Chief Executive of MoBank, said “Mobile commerce is growing rapidly, and more consumers are using their mobiles to make online purchases. A recent study by Forrester estimated that by 2016, 14 million people will be making purchases via mobile handsets. We are passionate about helping retailers of all sizes to take advantage of the opportunities offered by mCommerce and are looking forward to working with Sage Pay and their clients.”

Sage Pay’s latest annual business survey revealed that only 5% of e-tailers currently had apps, but 40% planned to invest in one within 12 months. 45% of merchants said time and cost were the main barriers to going mobile.

Over 40,000 merchants currently use Sage Pay in the UK and Ireland. The Mobank Group announced a similar deal with WorldPay last year.
