Sony Ericsson Xperia miniSony Ericsson has added two new members to its Xperia smartphone family. Both run Android v2.3 on a 1GHz processor, offering a 5 megapixel camera, 720p HD video recording and a 3-inch screen.

The new Xperia mini is just 88mm x 52mm x 16mm, weighing 94g, while the Xperia mini pro is slightly larger to accommodate a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

Steve Walker, Head of Marketing at Sony Ericsson, said “We wanted to provide consumers even greater choice across the Xperia range, while building on the success of the original mini series. These turbo-charged smartphones now contain even more power, enhanced functionality, a larger screen and premium features unique to Sony Ericsson. They are packed full of features, making them a perfect choice for consumers looking for all the benefits of Android and Sony in a beautiful and easy to use compact form factor.”

Facebook has been closely integrated with many of the phones’ features, making it easier to share information from within the picture gallery, music player, phonebook and calendar.

In addition, just for the Japanese market is the Xperia acro. This has a 4.2-inch wide screen for mobile TV viewing, HDMI connectivity, an 8.1 megapixel camera and a ‘mobile wallet’. It’ll arrive in Japan this summer.
