Swype text input app launched in beta on Symbian

The Swype text input application, which recently hit the headlines when a Samsung Galaxy S user managed to beat the SMS world record, is now available for a number of Nokia mobile phones.

Swype for Symbian Beta is compatible with the Nokia 5800, Nokia 5230, Nokia X6, Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 mini – all of which run Nokia S60 5th Edition.

It offers text entry speeds of over 40 words per minute; the beta version includes support for English US, Spanish, Canadian French and Brazilian Portuguese languages.

Venture capital firm Nokia Growth Partners is a co-investor in Swype; a total of $5.6 billion in funds was raised by Nokia Growth Partners, Samsung Ventures and Benaroya Capital in December 2009.
