The UK’s Advertising Standards Authority has upheld a complaint against a TV advertisement for the Motorola Atrix, which described the device as “The world's most powerful smartphone”.
Motorola Mobility had said the claim wasn’t just based on RAM and processor speed but a combination of features, including the phone’s 2x1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, operating system, display, battery life, biometric security and ‘Lapdock’ docking system.
However, the ASA upheld the complaint because it considered most viewers would understand the “most powerful” statement to mean the product had a faster processor than any other smartphone. It notes that the Samsung Galaxy S II i9100 has a dual-core processor running at 1.2GHz, which meant Motorola’s claim was misleading.
