Google announces quarterly results

Google has announced financial results for the most-recent financial quarter, which ended on 30th September 2011. Revenue reached $9.72 billion (£6.14 billion), an increase of 33% year-on-year. The company also said that 40 million people had registered with the Google+ social networking service.

Mobile products and services weren’t detailed in the results announcement, although they were discussed in the subsequent conference call. 190 million Android-based devices have now been activated globally, with customers currently activating 600,000 Android units every day. The company is also seeing strong growth in mobile advertising, which now generates over $2.5 billion annually following a 2.5-times increase since last year.
