Although the 4GEE service from EE is bringing 4G mobile phone service to the UK on Monday, the country’s other networks are busy planning a response.
Today Vodafone has launched a ‘4G phone promise’ for customers who sign up to a new contract on certain 3G phones before 31st March next year. The network will cut 70% off any remaining contract charges if a customer wants to upgrade to a 4G device when the service launches (subject to terms and conditions).
Vodafone anticipates launching its 4G LTE service in spring 2013, assuming that the government’s spectrum auction runs as planned.
O2 UK has a similar deal on a smaller scale for customers who choose an iPhone 5.
