Yahoo! has agreed to acquire Flurry, a US-based business that provides mobile app developers with information about the people using their apps as well as providing insight to advertisers and publishers. Flurry currently sees activity from more than 540,000 smartphone and tablet apps on over 1.4 billion devices worldwide. At the moment it’s used by 170,000 developers.
Last week, Yahoo’s quarterly earnings showed that its mobile display and search revenue had each grown more than 100% year-on-year, with more than half Yahoo’s total monthly audience visiting on a mobile device and the average Yahoo user spending 86% of their smartphone usage time in apps
Simon Khalaf, President and CEO of Flurry, said “As part of Yahoo, Flurry will continue to serve the application developer community in the way we always have, only better. With Yahoo, we will have access to more resources to speed up the delivery of great products that can help app developers build better apps, reach the right users, and explore new revenue opportunities. Over the last six years we have accomplished a lot on our own, but with Yahoo we are in an even better position to achieve our joint goals.”
Flurry’s team will remain in its current San Francisco location when the deal has been completed.
