ZTE prepares new smartphones using NVIDIA Tegra 4 processors

Just a couple of days after NVIDIA announced its new 4G-enabled Tegra 4i mobile processor - and only a few weeks after the original quad-core Tegra 4 was announced - Chinese manufacturer ZTE has confirmed it’s already working on smartphones powered by the new NVIDIA processors.

The first of these devices, referred to as ‘super phones’ by ZTE, is expected to go on sale in China by the middle of 2013.

He Shiyou, EVP and Head of the Terminal Division at ZTE, said “This is a clear demonstration of ZTE’s ability to quickly develop, and bring to market, market-leading devices running the industry’s latest technologies. We’re proud to continue our pioneering partnership with NVIDIA and are looking forward to offering more Tegra-powered devices, which are defining a new generation of phones offering premium mobile computing experiences. Our Tegra 4 smartphones will provide full HD entertainment and multimedia experiences that consumers will love.”

ZTE has a long-term strategic partnership with NVIDIA, having previously created the ZTE Grand X, the Grand Era and the U950 using NVIDIA technology.
