Nokia and HTC agree a patent licensing deal

Nokia and HTC have settled all pending patent litigation between the two companies and have also set up a patent and technology collaboration agreement. It follows a number of legal battles between HTC and Nokia in the USA and Europe.

Full terms aren’t being disclosed, although HTC will make payments to Nokia as part of the deal.

Paul Melin, chief intellectual property officer at Nokia, said “We are very pleased to have reached a settlement and collaboration agreement with HTC, which is a long standing licensee for Nokia’s standards essential patents. This agreement validates Nokia’s implementation patents and enables us to focus on further licensing opportunities.”
