Joe DeCapua of voanews.com writes:

This week (3rd-5th December), over 4,000 people from 50 countries have gathered near Washington, D.C. to discuss how mobile technology is affecting healthcare. Organizers of the mHealth Summit say some of the biggest advances and initiatives are taking place in low and middle income countries.

Mark Bridge writes:

As the end of the year approaches, so the volume of ‘real news’ tends to reduce as it’s replaced by annual reviews and seasonal surveys. We’ll be joining in with our predictions for 2013 in a few weeks’ time... but first, here’s a look back at the biggest stories from the past seven days.

ExclusiveLast week at The Fonecast: 26th November 2012

Mark Bridge writes:

It’s time to ‘ketchup’ with last week’s biggest mobile industry news stories - and where better to start than with HP’s claims of ‘saucy’ behaviour?  It’s launched an investigation into last year’s acquisition of UK company Autonomy, claiming the software company had ‘spiced up’ its valuation. Condiment-based puns aside, it’s a serious matter that could see key players from the deal charged with cooking the books.

Instead of producing a regular mobile industry news podcast this week, we're asking for a favour.

You see, we don't really know much about our listeners - and that doesn't make it easy for us to attract the sponsorship that keeps our programmes free for you to download.

Every week we produce our podcast of news and opinion for the UK mobile phone industry - and every week we give it away on our own web site, on iTunes and through our online partners, including Mobile News and the IMPDA.

But by giving away each programme, we're not able to tell potential advertisers and sponsors very much about our audience.

So this week we'd like you to answer a handful of simple questions. There's nothing tricky and we won't ask for any personal details - all we want is some general information.

You can take the survey by clicking here. There are just nine questions, so we reckon it'll only take a couple of minutes.

Please take our survey - and help ensure the future of The Fonecast.

[UPDATE: TheFonecast.com survey is now closed]
