Telecoms business TalkTalk has set up a  new multi-year MVNO agreement with Telefónica UK, the company behind O2. TalkTalk’s current virtual network agreement is with Vodafone.

Just under 10% of TalkTalk’s 4 million fixed-line, broadband and TV customers currently have one of its mobile connections. Vodafone’s MVNO deal offers 2G and 3G connectivity, while the new Telefonica agreement includes 4G as well.

Dido Harding, CEO of TalkTalk, said “This is a significant development for TalkTalk, building on our success in mobile to date. We are ideally placed to benefit from the market shift to quad-play, with a sizeable and growing number of customers already choosing to take mobile from us. We see real opportunities in both the near term and further out, to work with Telefónica UK to further accelerate our quad-play growth.”

TalkTalk launched in 2003 as a subsidiary of Carphone Warehouse before being separated as a standalone business in 2010. Carphone Warehouse currently runs its own MVNO - Talkmobile - on the Vodafone network.

He says next year will be a year of rapid change for telecoms… whether it’s MVNO disruption, competitive tariff pricing or simply defence from the ‘dark art’ of hacking.

ExclusiveKapture review: the audio-recording wristband

Mark Bridge writes:

The most memorable moments in life often go unrecorded. You don't have your camera in your hands. Your finger is still hovering over the 'pause' button on your audio recorder. Or you were simply too busy experiencing whatever was happening. It's all about the one that got away.

That's where Kapture can help.
