Charlie Chaplin, a mobile phone and a time-travel mystery

A Charlie Chaplin DVD includes an image of a woman using a mobile phone in 1928.

That’s the suggestion surrounding a YouTube clip that’s currently received more than 2½ million hits since it was posted online by film-maker George Clarke last week. The clip can be seen within one of the ‘extras’ of a DVD box set that includes Chaplin's film ‘The Circus’.

Sadly for conspiracy theorists, the shape of some 1920s hearing aids is not dissimilar to the outline of a modern mobile phone.
