Heroes of Emerging Markets is an interactive, intimate panel discussion that looks at the opportunities of doing mobile business in emerging markets.  The event was organised by Heroes of the Mobile Fringe - the unofficial MWC Fringe event that ran alongside Mobile World Congress 2012 - and was sponsored by Pearson. It took place on 28th February 2012 at the GILD International networking club in Barcelona.

We’ve recorded the entire event and have turned it into a podcast. You can listen on our desktop web site here, by downloading the MP3 audio file or by finding TheFonecast.com on iTunes.

Russell Buckley moderated the discussion group, which consisted of:

Alistair Hill, co-founder of On Device Research

Juan Lopez-Valcarcel, SVP of Future Technologies and Partnerships at Pearson

Julie Gibbs, vice president of Marketing & Communications at Good Technology

Brian Oliver Smith, founder of Urban Planet Mobile

Topics for debate included the implications of developing market growth for the worldwide marketplace, the differing role of network operators in emerging markets and innovation in emerging markets.

You can receive every podcast from The Fonecast automatically by subscribing to our RSS podcast feed, finding us on iTunes or searching via the Stitcher mobile app. As well as recording special features we also produce a mobile industry news report every week.
