A beta version of the Skyfire 2.0 browser has been launched for Android, described as the "first Flash-video enabled mobile browser" for the operating system. It also offers the SkyBar, a 'video boosting' toolbar that loads via a version of the Android default browser.

Skyfire says its new browser translates Flash videos into HTML5 video. That's the standard preferred by Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who recently published "Thoughts on Flash" to explain his company's decision to choose HTML5 over Flash technology. In a response, Kevin Lynch of Adobe said he's working to bring Flash Player to Google, RIM, Palm/HP, Microsoft and Nokia, with Flash Player 10.1 for Android smartphones due for general release in June.
