Sony has confirmed it’s working on a PlayStation mobile application.

In a post on the PlayStation blog, the company says the app will be launched “very soon”. It’ll be available for iPhone and iPod Touch devices running iOS 4 and above, plus most Android handsets with version 1.6 and above.

The free app will be available in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and The Netherlands. It’ll let users see whether friends are online and the games they’re playing, as well as letting them see the ‘trophies’ they’ve won. However, it won’t be possible to interact with console games via the phone.
