Virgin Media has revealed a new ‘unlimited’ mobile phone tariff that offers unlimited calls to 0870, 0800, 0845 and 0808 numbers as well as unlimited mobile data, text messages and UK calls.
The package, which also includes a mid-range smartphone with insurance, is called VIP and is priced from £26 monthly for customers who have Virgin Media’s broadband, TV or home phone service. Other customers will pay £31 per month for the two-year minimum term contract.

The UK’s Advertising Standards Authority has upheld a complaint about the T-Mobile ‘Full Monty’ mobile phone tariff.
The www.t-mobile.co.uk website claimed the ‘Full Monty’ tariff offered “unlimited internet” for £36 per month. However, a complaint to the ASA questioned the description of ‘unlimited’ because T-Mobile operated a traffic management policy.

0800 calls will be free from all mobiles
Last April, UK telecoms regulator Ofcom suggested some changes to the way non-geographic numbers are regulated.
It wanted calls to numbers that began 080 and 116 to be free from all fixed-line and mobile phones; currently some mobile operators charge for calls that are ‘free’ from fixed lines. In addition, it proposed a new tariff structure for other non-geographic calls.

O2 UK has created a new tariff that separates the subsidised cost of a mobile phone from a minimum-term airtime contract.
Launching on 16th April, O2 Refresh has a 24-month airtime plan and a separate finance agreement for a ‘phone plan’. Customers who want a new handset before the end of their minimum contract term can pay for the remainder of their Phone Plan and start a new Airtime Plan with no termination fee.
