Samsung and Google have announced a notebook computer that uses the Chrome operating system. Unlike other notebook and laptop computers, almost all user information is stored online 'in the cloud'.
The Samsung Series 5 Chromebook has a 12.1-inch screen and is just 2cm thick.

The International Data Corporation has reported that the worldwide mobile phone market grew 19.8% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2011, with smartphones gaining in popularity. A total of 371.8 million mobile devices were shipped in Q1 of 2011, compared with 310.5 million units in the first quarter of 2010.
In terms of overall market share, Nokia remained in the lead with 29.2%, followed by Samsung, LG, Apple and ZTE.

Samsung Electronics has announced an agreement that'll see footballer David Beckham becoming its global brand ambassador for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The partnership will see David Beckham appearing in advertising and public relations campaigns that promote Samsung and emphasise its role as Worldwide Olympic Partner for Wireless Communications Equipment.

Mark Mitchinson, former vice president of mobile at Samsung UK & Ireland, has left The Carphone Warehouse after five months as group managing director of business, wholesale and distribution.
He’s now executive UK and Ireland vice president at Huawei, according to a report from Mobile News.
