Developers at the Google I/O conference last week were shown key aspects of the forthcoming Android OS update.
Known simply as ‘Android L’ - a sweet-themed name is expected to follow - the new platform is due to be launched in the autumn.

BlackBerry says it’ll make the Amazon Appstore available on BlackBerry 10 smartphones from this autumn, when version 10.3 of the BB10 operating system is due to be launched.
It’s a move that’ll let BlackBerry focus more on developing enterprise and productivity applications.

Real-time location sharing service Glympse says it’s picked up $12 million (£7 million) in additional funding, with new investors UMC Capital and Verizon Ventures joining existing investors Ignition Partners, Menlo Ventures and Naya Ventures.
Glympse offers real-time, temporary location sharing via mobile devices, enabling users to share their location or journey without allowing themselves to be permanently ‘tracked’.

A report published today by Juniper Research shows that one in five of all mobile phones will have mobile wallet functionality by 2018.
That compares with less than 10% at the end of last year.
