Almost half of email in the UK is opened on an iPhone

New figures from email delivery service SendGrid suggest that 46% of email in the UK is opened on an Apple iPhone, while 18% is opened on an iPad.

The figures come from two 10-day survey periods in 2013 and 2014, covering more than eight billion emails sent by over 125,000 companies.

Encrypted communications company closes its email service to focus on secure phone calls, text and video messaging

Encrypted communications provider Silent Circle says it’s discontinued its Silent Mail email encryption service to avoid the risk of compromising its customers if governments demanded to see user information.

The company points out that it’s not received any government subpoenas, warrants or security letters at the moment.

Americans spend almost an hour every day on their smartphones

The latest Simmons Connect panel from Experian Marketing Services has shown that the average smartphone user in the USA spends 58 minutes on their device every day.

Just over a quarter of this time (26%) is spent talking and another 20% sending text messages.
