New report shows year-on-year smartphone sales falling

A new report from mobile analysts at Juniper Research estimates that 320.3 million smartphones were shipped worldwide in the first quarter of this year.

That's a year-on-year drop of almost 6%.

Hello Moto, goodbye Motorola

Lenovo will stop branding mobile phones as 'Motorola' later this year, according to a report on CNET.

Apparently the mobile phones will now be described as 'Moto by Lenovo', although the Motorola name will remain as a division of Lenovo.

Lenovo is fixing the security concerns caused by 'Superfish' on its laptops

Company insists that smartphones and tablets are not affected

Lenovo has admitted that it’s been shipping laptops and convertible laptop/tablet devices with a security vulnerability.

Between September and December last year, Windows-based laptops from Lenovo were loaded with software called Superfish. This ‘broke’ secure web pages, which meant that any fraudulent secure sites wouldn’t be detected.
