Secure mobility specialist Good Technology has arranged an $80 million (around £50 million) financing deal that was handled by investment firm Oppenheimer & Company.

The company currently provides secure mobile device services to more than 5,000 organisations worldwide.

Mobile security solution specialist Good Technology has filed a registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public offering.

However, it’s not confirmed how much the company will be valued at for this stock market flotation.

Good Technology, the secure ‘bring your own device’ technology business, has appointed a new CEO.

Christy Wyatt has been named President and Chief Executive Officer, while King Lee - who’d been CEO since 2010 - is becoming Executive Chairman.

Good Technology, which enables businesses to implement ‘bring your own device’ solutions, has agreed to acquire California-based AppCentral.

AppCentral creates products that allow organisations to distribute, manage, and secure their mobile applications.

Good Technology, which offers secure technical solutions that enable employees to use their personal smartphones at work, has started providing professional services to help businesses move to a ‘Bring Your Own Device’ scheme.

The two new programmes are simply called BYOD Policy Construction and Transition Services. They’re aimed at organisations that want to take advantage of a BYOD programme but are unsure of the business, legal, financial and HR implications.

There’s a lot of talk about Google’s online ordering process for its Nexus One smartphone… or ‘superphone’ as the company described it at yesterday’s launch.

I really don’t like to complain. Honestly, I don’t. I’m an optimist. True, I can be a bit of a cynic – but that’s because I like to see things work first time.

So when I saw a headline that said “Shopping via mobile phone causes concerns for consumers”, I wasn’t surprised. Disappointed but not surprised.

And then I looked closer – and I got annoyed. Not annoyed at the companies that make mobile shopping so disappointing. No, annoyed at the organisation that published the report.
