Rachel McCormack writes:

Mobile point of sale transactions (mPOS) are growing in popularity as mobile use takes over from desktop computers. The description of ‘mobile’ point of sale transactions denotes the ability of a payment to be taken via smartphone or tablet rather than a traditional card reader. There are many different ways to do this; mobile chip & PIN, mobile swipe & sign and NFC payments. All of these methods vary in popularity and security conceptions and many are difficult to understand. A $1 billion rescue and an £8 million tariff

Mark Bridge writes:

We started last week with a change of plan from BlackBerry. No, it’s not selling itself to Fairfax Financial. Instead it’s aiming to raise $1 billion from investors. Cynics might suggest there wasn’t enough interest for a takeover.

Apple announces new iPhone SE for 2022

Apple has announced a new version of its mid-range iPhone SE. It's the third model in the 'SE' family since its inception in 2016 and will be available from 18th May 2022.

This new smartphone incorporates elements of the iPhone 13 range, including Apple's A15 Bionic chip. It'll run the iOS 15 operating system, has 4GB of RAM and will cost from £419 in the UK for the 64GB version. There are also models with 128GB and 256GB of storage.

Apple's iPhone SE v3 has support for 5G mobile networks, is rated IP67 for water and dust resistance and has an improved camera system with a 12-megapixel lens.

Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing, said "iPhone SE has been an incredibly popular choice with our existing users and for new iPhone customers, thanks to its iconic design, exceptional performance, and affordable price. This year we’ve built the most powerful and durable iPhone SE yet, with better battery life thanks to A15 Bionic, the same chip as our iPhone 13 lineup that also unlocks advanced camera features like Smart HDR 4, Photographic Styles, and Deep Fusion. And with 5G, iPhone SE gives users faster downloads and uploads, higher quality video streaming, real-time interactivity in apps, and much more. Delivering the latest generation of technology and performance at this price is something only Apple can do."
