Oh, how the mobile industry loves a superlative. Much like the work ethic celebrated by Daft Punk (or Kanye West, if you prefer), it’s always looking for a new angle.

Location-sharing service Glympse, which enables users to share their location for a limited time, has launched an in-car voice-activated option using the Ford SYNC AppLink. It means that drivers can send their real-time location to friends and colleagues using voice commands.

Customers simply connect their iOS or Android smartphone to the Ford Sync system via Bluetooth or USB lead.

Mobile World Congress is over for another year. Also gone is the mobile industry’s sudden obsession with public transport and student protests in Barcelona. But away from the local news, what’s been going on?

Yesterday at Mobile World Congress, Ford revealed that its new B-MAX car would be launched in Europe with the company’s SYNC in-car connectivity system.

Ford SYNC is already available in the USA, although the B-MAX was making its first public appearance. 3.5 million people are expected to be using SYNC in Europe by 2015.

If you listen to this week’s edition of The Fonecast - in which we predict what’ll be happening in the mobile telecoms industry during 2015 - you’ll hear James Rosewell say that BlackBerry’s handset business is doomed. Well, actually that’s not quite true.

Jon Carter of Deutsche Telekom has provided us with his ‘Connected Home’ predictions for 2015:

Connected home products and services rely on different communication standards, be it ZigBee, HomeMatic or Z-Wave. Only platforms which both handle established standards and are able to learn new protocols will hold their ground in the market in 2015. Customers don’t want to be limited in their product choices or care about compatibility issues. Integrating any device into a connected home setup needs to be smooth and simple.
