Top tips in Mobile Device Management

David Akka writes:

The issue of choosing the right MDM solution has become more and more pressing, especially for companies implementing a Bring Your Own Device policy. The market place is becoming increasingly crowded with 50 or so vendors who now position themselves as MDMs. Some vendors offer application sharing, some multitenant management, other vendors have a heritage in security or a different strength all together. For organisations considering which option is best it is important to discern between the best known names or the most expensive solutions and select an MDM solution that is fit for purpose.

Telefonica publishes half-year results for O2

Telefónica Europe, which runs O2 in the UK, says revenue reached €7.28 billion in the first half of 2010, up 10.8% year-on-year. It now has a total of 54.5 million customers in Europe, up 6.1% year-on-year. 45.2 million of these are on its mobile networks.

Telefonica O2 UK's customer base (excluding Tesco Mobile) increased 4.5% year-on-year to 21.6 million at the end of June. The number of 'contract' customers was up 11.7% year-on-year.

Matthew Key, Chairman and Chief Executive of Telefónica Europe, said "Telefónica Europe maintained market-leading financial and operating performance across the Group, with solid momentum in UK and Germany, while the Czech Republic and Ireland are seeing early signs of trends reversing, despite an ongoing challenging economic environment. The Group continues to see the benefits of a more balanced portfolio and in this last quarter disposed of Manx Telecom as a non-core asset to focus resources into main markets. In the first six months of 2010 we continued to set the trends in the markets where we operate – witness our bold move on data pricing in the UK and the ongoing popularity of the O2o proposition in Germany which has secured more than 1.5 million customers since its launch just 12 months ago."
