Rob Orr moves from Samsung to Virgin Media

Rob Orr - Samsung’s former Vice President of European Telecoms Operations and the temporary ‘head of mobile’ when Simon Stanford left - has been appointed by Virgin Media Business as its new Director of Large Sales.

He’ll report directly to MD Peter Kelly.

Numericable Group is in talks to buy Virgin Mobile France, says Carphone Warehouse

Fresh from its deal last month to buy French telecoms business SFR, the Numericable Group is now negotiating to acquire Virgin Mobile France.

According to a statement by Carphone Warehouse, which owns 46% of the holding company, all the holding company shareholders have entered into an exclusivity agreement with Numericable.

Ofcom reveals the UK mobile networks with the most complaints

UK communications regulator Ofcom has published information about the volume of complaints it received between October and December 2013.

It’s the organisation’s twelfth quarterly report and reveals that the number of complaints had fallen quarter-on-quarter across landline telephone, broadband, ‘pay monthly’ mobile and pay TV services.

Has Apple just patented the touchscreen?

Imagine a mobile phone that can’t be built without the permission of Apple. Impossible?  Unrealistic?  Not necessarily.

This week, Apple was awarded US patent 7,966,578. It's an application that was originally filed at the end of 2007, almost a year after the iPhone was first revealed.

There's more to NFC than mobile payments... and there's more to mobile payments than NFC.

The latest audio accessories from Nokia use 'contactless' NFC technology to speed up Bluetooth connections. Simply touch a compatible Nokia phone against the Play 360° loudspeaker and your music will play through the speaker. There's no need to bother with conventional Bluetooth pairing.
