To SIM or not to SIM; that is the question

The last couple of weeks have seen the ‘embedded SIM’ making headlines.

The term ‘embedded SIM’ has previously been used to describe non-phone equipment with a SIM card pre-installed in a built-in 3G modem. Technically the modem was embedded, not the SIM – but it looks as though genuinely embedded SIMs could be just around the corner.

More than 100 million European mobile users have received SMS advertising

A new report from research company comScore says 100 million mobile phone subscribers in the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy have seen SMS advertisements. In addition, more than 57 million subscribers said they’d seen an ad on their mobile phone when browsing the internet or accessing an application.

Ron Garriques is leaving Dell's mobile business

Ron Garriques, President of Dell’s Communications Solutions business – the part of Dell responsible for its mobile products – is leaving the company. He’ll remain an employee until the end of January 2011 and will continue as a consultant for the rest of that year.
