Sky plans a move into mobile with Telefónica UK

TV and online entertainment business Sky has agreed a mobile voice and data partnership with Telefónica UK.

As a result, Sky plans to launch its own mobile services in 2016.

Apple catches Samsung to become the world's biggest smartphone producer in Q4 2014

New figures from Strategy Analytics show that Samsung and Apple each produced 74.5 million smartphones in the final quarter of 2014, giving each of them just under a fifth of the total smartphone market.

It’s the first time the two companies have been this close with quarterly shipments since the end of 2011.

BlackBerry CEO wants 'app neutrality' as well as net neutrality

BlackBerry CEO John Chen has said he thinks ‘net neutrality’ - preventing telecoms networks from restricting or prioritising certain types of internet traffic - should go further than just network operators and service providers.

In a letter to the US government (later published as a blog post) he says that neutrality should also be mandated for content and applications.
